Read pp. 1012-1016 & 1040-1045. Then, complete the following essay task. Due Friday. Practice Regents Thematic Essay #1: Write a response to the following task. Your essay must include an introduction, several paragraphs addressing the task, and a conclusion. Your essay must be handwritten on loose leaf paper (not typed). Special Guidelines: One (and only one) of the leaders you choose for this essay must be from the reading you just completed: Kwame Nkrumah; Jomo Kenyatta, Desmond Tutu; F.W. DeKlerk; or Nelson Mandela. The other leader can be any leader we have studied this year. Use your class notes and textbook to find evidence to support your essay. Any essay that includes material directly copied from the internet (even one sentence!) will receive a score of zero! Theme: Change Throughout history, the actions of leaders have changed the society in which they lived. Task: Identify two leaders who changed the society in which they lived and for each • Describe one situation the leader attempted to change • Describe one action the leader took to change this situation • Discuss the impact of that action on the society in which the leader lived You may use any leader from your study of global history and geography. Some suggestions you might wish to consider include Toussaint L’Ouverture, Napoleon Bonaparte, Simón Bolívar, Otto von Bismarck, Mohandas Gandhi, Mao Zedong, Ho Chi Minh, and Fidel Castro. You are not limited to these suggestions. Do not use a leader from the United States in your answer.
